The Beginning of Enterprise Project Management at Primavera

Prospective, Rewind

After Primavera made the huge leap from the DOS version of Primavera Project Planner (P3) to windows, the walls of future generations of project management software were forever changed. Take at look at any project management software application today. I bet each one of those applications has series of ‘tabs’ on the bottom of the screen that provides for information on the Activity above. Primavera was the first project management company to introduce such a concept. This concept still drives the competitors today. In fact, most times it is Primavera crossing the chasm and leading as the rest of the project management software firms stay on main street as it tries to steal the ‘best of’ Primavera.

At any rate, in fall of 1998, Primavera was on the cusp in introducing a radical new ‘enterprise’ software. This software took out an individual project planner from his own workstation and made the project schedule visible to the entire team! The new software was to be called Prospective(TM). Primavera even had an Early Adaptor Program (EAP). Administration books were all way to EAP 4.0. The Prospective Marketing Image will remain with me. A man, with his back to us, his trench coat spread open, in what appears to be a wheat field.

EagleRay, The Introduction

The boys came 12 strong from the city streets of New York. Each wore a suit. Everyone of them were black. They were introduced and received a standing ovation. Their software would be re-engineered, re-branded and the launch of TeamPlay and the first Enterprise Project Management software was released. Today, you can catch up with these men, these visionaries as they build a complimentary product called EcoSys Financial Manager Tell them we sent you!

All of this information and more will be forth coming in a book. For advance copies of the book please email info@sub3mgmt.com.
